More than just being the state capital, Sacramento is home to a number of museums that deliver a big impact for a mid-sized city. Whether you’re a longtime Sacramentan or just passing through, these six museums are worth a visit.
MOSAC (Museum of Science and Curiosity): Embark on a curiosity-driven adventure at MOSAC, the Museum of Science and Curiosity. Crocker Art Museum: The Crocker is a museum that definitely punches above its weight. The original Victorian mansion is a feast for the eyes in itself, and the adjacent, sweeping Teel Family Pavilion houses the museum’s excellent collections ranging from early California art, Native American ceramics, an impressive modern/contemporary collection, and more. Rotating exhibitions are the major draw, and many are curated by the Crocker itself, that then go on the road to regional museums around the country. Engage with fellow art lovers at ArtMix, the monthly themed mixer in the open courtyard, or enjoy jazz on fourth Thursdays in summertime.
